17 runs from Bravo's first over
Some smart batting from Dhawan and Pant here. When there's no boundary on offer, they're nudging the ball to the deep and running twos. But the bigger problem for CSK is Bravo, who was their designated death bowler last year as well. Poor start for him.
Run-rate gets a little nudge
Two successive overs from Tahir and Jadeja bring 10 and 11 runs respectively. Takes DC to 91 for 2 in 13 overs. Time for Bravo - so he will bowl 14, 16, 18 and 20!
Tahir, the man targetted
Shikhar Dhawan picks up 9 off 3 balls from Tahir. Steps out and bludgeons one down the ground and then slogs sweep one through mid-wicket.
Tahir hits back with a superb slider that Iyer goes back to and can't get his bat down in time to save his pads. Plumb LBW.
Iyer breaks the boundary drought
By stepping out and launching Imran Tahir into the stands behind the long-off fence. Much needed boundary (the first six) after 23 deliveries of sedate play.
Now R. Jadeja comes on
Gets one to rip past Shreyas Iyer's outside edge. Dhoni whips off the bails but Iyer is in. This is a attritional period of play right here with spinners bowling well on this surface and the two batsmen struggling to get enough scoring opportunities. 150 should be a good score on this wicket.
9 overs: 55/1 (Dhawan 22, Iyer 7)
End of the powerplay
Dhawan will up the ante now to allow Iyer to get set on a slightly two-paced wicket. Would assume 43/1 is a good PP score here. Here's Deepak Chahar, who is bowling out here.
Fair PointChahar strikes
Shaw gets into an awkward position attempting the pull. Played his cards too early when he moved outside leg stump. Chahar followed him and cramped Shaw for room. The pull goes only as far as Watson at mid-wicket.
Shaw: 24 off 16
Harbhajan time in the fourth
Two overs late today, but here's Harbhajan. No concept of seniority respect here on the field as Shaw steps out and hits the veteran offie over mid-off for four. Shikhar Dhawan then premeditates a sweep and picks up another four. Great start from DD.
4 overs: DC 35/0 (Shaw 24, Dhawan 9)

Three in a row for Shaw
Dhoni brings in Shardul Thakur but doesn't give him a slip. Unlikely to get a slip catch on this pitch. Thakur has denied his domestic teammate (Mumbai) any width. But his good start to the over is undone by a couple of short balls that Shaw pulls away and then a Deepak Chahar misfield one at third man to make it three fours on the bounce.
Sticky surface
The second ball of the match, from Deepak Chahar spent a little too much time on the pitch and came on rather belatedly to Prithvi Shaw. But the youngster gets a boundary ball and makes it an 8-run start.
IPL 2018 stat at Feroz Shah Kotla
Batting First: Won - 5, Lost - 2
Toss - DC opt to bat; Bring in an extra spinner
Good toss to win, says Shreyas Iyer, who has stocked his team with an extra spinner as IPL veteran Amit Mishra comes in for Trent Boult. CSK are unchanged. That means we have just 6 foreign players playing this one!
Should Sandeep Lamichhane have played instead of Mishra?
What about the pitch?
Iyer reckons that the pitch slowed down as the game progressed during the practice matches here. It's what happened in the recent India v Australia match as well. So a good toss to win for Delhi, although Dhoni suggested that he was going to field anyway.
Preamble - DC vs CSK
Have you had enough of the Ashwin-Buttler 'Mankading incident yet? No? It's been nearly 24 hours. All right, how about you gorge on what Harsha Bhogle has writtenand then run through the rest of the pieces on Cricbuzz?
Alright let's get to the match on hand. DC vs CSK at the Kotla. Both have 2 points on the board and began with rather convincing wins in their respective openers. But given the abjectly one-sided nature of their clash, CSK got to know a little less about their side than did DC, who already find their reputations enhanced many times over after their clinical dismantling of Mumbai Indians.
If you are a stickler for mini match-ups, there are a couple today. MS Dhoni vs Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel vs Shane Watson. This should be a cracker.
